Producing Designer Beadwork has become a colorful and rewarding journey. Beginning this long creation journey thirty-five plus years ago with the basics and graduating to designing artwork pieces purchased by a leading museum and first place award winner designs.
Having an artistic side, creating with my hands has always been a passion. After being exposed to beadwork, the bead magic began bringing life to the potential that designer beadwork lends itself toward. My imagination is allowed to explore more creative designs and fulfill my passion for art in the best conceivable way.
Designer beadwork extends from beaded jewelry (necklaces, bracelets, earrings), to beaded pictures, handmade beaded leather bags, and beaded sculptures, such as a Southwestern inspired dancing stick with an antler display stand or the fully beaded Spirit Horse.
My artist statement would read: “Color and design, whether contemporary or traditional, provides a creative inspiration. Glass beads combined with stones, leather, or other medium has become the canvas for my impassioned expression of natural beauty designed harmoniously into a designer artwork.”
"Warinex" is my Taino name which means "the Noble Warrior". I am a member of the Taino Indian Tribe from the Caribbean. Taino are the indigenous (Native Americans) that first encountered Columbus. That encounter was not a good one however and resulted in the near decimation of the Taino Tribe. We still live through our ancestors that did survive the first encounter.
We have a very beautiful history. For instance, the Fountain of Youth that many Spaniards searched for was a tale that was told to them by the Taino Indians. This search allowed the Taino people to gain time to ensure the survival of the tribe - since the Spaniards were too busy searching for that mysterious fountain. To learn more about the Taino Indians, search the internet for "Taino" and explore the rich history.
